Glenn Beck is an unrepentant Mormon, and his recent program about the history of civil rights in America, while admirable, rings quite hollowly against the backdrop of the Mormon Church's late-coming (1978) "revelation" that people of African ethnicity are, in fact, the equals of people of other ethnicities, and that during his "civil rights" program, he promoted Mormon mythology concerning Hebraic and Egyptian elements in pre-Columbian native american history.
And now, Glenn Beck has got himself a Rabbi, Daniel Lapin. Rabbi Lapin gave a micro-seminar on the comparative meanings of "amuse" and "muse" on Beck's program. Simply put, one means to "not think" and the other means "to meditate deeply". Oddly, Ken Hovind, on his televised "Creation Series" on the NRB Network, touched on precisely the same philological subject. I suspect that Rabbi Lapin, a professed non-Christian, is nonetheless a "son" of Nicodemus in that he, as a Jewish leader, comes to hear from Jesus under the cover of darkness, the circumstantial evidence being his citing of the implications of the word "amusement". (It seems a glaring oversight, in the exegesis of the Gospel of John, Chapter 3, that the fact that Jesus' assertion to Nicodemus, that the condemnation of men lies in their hatred of the Light and love of darkness is made in this context, is not made more of. In a topical googling, this commentary comes closest. One might make the case that the saturation of the world with the scripture reference John 3:16 is done for the church's "amusement" rather than for the illumination of this present darkness with the Light of the world: Yeshua Ha'Mashiach.)

Mr. Beck, get yourself a better Rabbi. If you are going to appropriate my material, please keep the Son of the Most High God in His place at the center of it. I don't take kindly to unauthorized and unqualified personnel mucking about amongst my Master's things.

Please note that the effect, the supernatural confusion of linguistic communication, that God Personally came down and caused to reduce the Tower of Babel to a scriptural archetype of the futility of unregenerate human achievement (made with hands), is the exact opposite of the effect, the supernatural nullification of linguistic barriers, manifested at the Personal coming of the Spirit of the Living God to give birth (made without hands) to the Church of Jesus Christ at Pentecost:

Can you even begin to surmise that the confounding of the Tower of Babel and the founding of the Church of Jesus Christ are not the work of the One and the Selfsame Living God? The one "made with hands" demolished by God ("they left off to build the tower"), the one "made without hands" built by God? (I will build My church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it!!!!!!!)

Rabbi Lapin touches on "clothing" giving "spiritual dignity" to a person in this clip. Now let's put this whole "sons of Noah" nonsense to bed.

Genesis 9

18And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth: and Ham is the father of Canaan.

First of all, speculation about what Ham did to his father, Noah, such as some sort of sexual violation, is totally uncalled for, and leads to all kinds of strange doctrines and damnable religious traditions such as the kind of racism and bigotry that Jesus contended with among His earthly contemporaries in the Judaic religious hierarchy.
It is plainly stated in the text. Ham saw his father's nakedness and published it. Shem and Japheth would not look on Noah's nakedness and covered him. Ham was cursed and Shem and Japheth were blessed. (This teaching does not portend well for the whole tabloid "dirty laundromat" that clothes itself with the trappings of "journalism" in the American "mainstream media".The treatment that Mel Gibson has received, for example. Glenn Beck piled right onto that bandwagon. Join me in the Light, won't you, Mr. Beck? As for the curse and the blessing, Canaan and his descendants end up inhabiting the land that God gives to Abraham and his descendants, or in the Divine Crosshairs, so to speak. Moreover, Canaan is designated a servant of servants, a servant of Shem, and a servant of Japheth. The LORD God of Shem is blessed, denoting the Divine spiritual primacy of Shem and his descendants. God enlarges Japheth and he and his descendants shall dwell in the tents or spiritual shelters of Shem. I will let the socio-economic history of the world and its peoples give meaning and relevance to this prophetic utterance. Rabbi Lapin is cognizant of what is indicated here. Let's just say Judeo-Christian cultures as opposed to others.This mad divestiture from all things Judeo-Christian in Western Civilization, however, fulfills this prophetic utterance:

This dichotomy between the "sons of Noah" is the same dichotomy made when the LORD God declared war on the serpent and his seed through the woman and her seed. The one emphasizes man's faults by focusing attention on his "nakedness", the other emphasizes God's grace in providing a covering for man's "nakedness". (Strap yourselves in, my Judaic audience, the sword of Jesus Christ, the enmity between the seed of the woman and the seed of the serpent, is passing through. Like Nimrod, I hunt. Unlike Nimrod, I hunt to gather men to the Most High God, whereas Nimrod hunted to drive them from Him. As I've said, should the occasion arise, crucify me upside down and facing the cross. Thanks.)

Etymology

Yom means "day" in Hebrew and Kippur comes from a root that means "to cover or hide"; a secondary meaning is "to obliterate (sin)" and hence "to expiate". Some say there is a link to kapporet, the “mercy seat” or covering of the Ark of the Covenant. Abraham Ibn Ezra holds that the word indicates the task and not just the shape of the ark cover; since the blood of the Yom Kippur sacrifice was sprinkled in its direction (Lev. 16), it was the symbol of propitiation.[3]

Leviticus 16

29And this shall be a statute for ever unto you: that in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, ye shall afflict your souls, and do no work at all, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger that sojourneth among you:
30For on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you, to cleanse you, that ye may be clean from all your sins before the LORD.

On the TV show "Day of Discovery", there was some mystification expressed by Mart De Haan as to why the
"
Book of Jonah" is read in Jewish synagogues the world over on Yom Kippur. Think about it. God leaves a question hanging in the air on the Day of "Atonement" or "covering":
Jonah 4
1But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was very angry.
2And he prayed unto the LORD, and said, I pray thee, O LORD, was not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I fled before unto Tarshish: for I knew that thou art a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest thee of the evil.
3Therefore now, O LORD, take, I beseech thee, my life from me; for it is better for me to die than to live.
4Then said the LORD, Doest thou well to be angry?

Jonah is rooting for the condemnation of Ninevah. God is rooting for the salvation of Ninevah. The Ninevites were a particularly fouled-up category of Goyim.

John 3

10Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?
11Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.
12If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?

Zechariah 3:8-10 (NIV) 8"'Listen, O high priest Joshua and your associates seated before you, who are men symbolic of things to come: I am going to bring my servant, the Branch. 9See, the stone I have set in front of Joshua! There are seven eyes on that one stone, and I will engrave an inscription on it,' says the LORD Almighty, 'and I will remove the sin of this land in a single day.10"'In that day each of you will invite his neighbor to sit under his vine and fig tree,' declares the LORD Almighty."

Those who were seated there are said to be symbolic of things to come. I believe these are the patriarchs and types and shadows of Christ in the Old Testament. They are symbolic of the things to come, i.e.: God's servant the Branch. Later on, Joshua is called the Branch, because he does become symbolic of the Branch to come. This reference is to the reality, Jesus. See Isaiah 11:1; Jeremiah 33:15. The true Branch is a descendant of David of the tribe of Judah. This man, Joshua, is a priest and therefore of the tribe of Levi. If he walked in the ways of the Lord, Joshua would join this group of men whose lives were a foreshadowing of Jesus
The stone, Jesus, is referred to as the rock, the rock of offense, the cornerstone, and the capstone. A rock is something solid that remains. In Revelation chapter 1, John sees the seven spirits of God before the throne. There are seven eyes upon this rock in front of Joshua. In several ways we see Jesus in this rock. And the LORD Almighty says He will (future tense) engrave an inscription on it and remove the sins of the land in one day. When were the sins of a nation ever removed in one day? Good Friday! And what was the inscription on the rock? What marks on the rock have to do with our salvation? Isaiah 53 tells us, "Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him and afflicted." They are strikes of the Engravers tool on the rock.
Consider: There are the marks that verify our redemption, forever on display for the spiritual world to see.

Now let's consider the lilies:

Matthew 6 (the link is for the larger context of the contrast between the just living by faith and the wicked living by the deceitful knowledge of good and evil. "Old and new" indeed.)

This reference to "the grass of the field" and "the oven" is quite ominous in its implications. The Lord is emphasizing the distinction between the saved and the lost. Note also "toil not/ God clothes"="grace, not works":

Isaiah 40 (Incongruously, Janet Napolitano read this chapter of Scripture at the "Tucson Memorial". No doubt, the Son of God's categorical distinction is anathemic to the "Together, We Thrive" notions of multiculturalism, ecumenicalism, and "tolerance". Yet another manifestation of the Divinely imposed enmity between the seed of the serpent and the seed of the woman. Blessedly, the Creation is not a "democracy". It also manifests the serpent's compulsion to presumptuously superimpose himself on things that don't belong to him, namely, the Scriptures.)

3The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
4Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:

The younger son was literally starving and realized his Father's hired servants were not. He was explicitly not trading on his relationship with his Father. He was looking for a better job with a better employer. Everything he would receive would be earned. (Works.)
22But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:
23And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:
24For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry. (Grace.)
Interestingly, the elder son, seeing the Father's grace and mercy toward his erstwhile miscreant younger sibling, decides he no longer wants to be a part of the family, on the basis that he has not been given his due. (Works.)
31And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.
32It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found. (Grace. You are with Me and he is with Me. Life is about the Presence of the Father, not about having status and stuff.)

Matthew 25


31When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
32And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
33And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
