Glenn’s been talking abut the dangers of multiculturalism, but now world leaders are starting to agree with him. Instead of having a melting pot, there has been a growing belief that countries and societies should allow segregated groups to flourish with values that run opposite the values and culture of the home country.
British Prime Minister David Cameron explained, “We have even tolerated these segregated communities behaving in ways that run counter to our values. So when a white person holds objectionable views — racism, for example — we rightly condemn them. But when equally unacceptable views or practices have come from someone who isn’t white, we’ve been too cautious, frankly even fearful, to stand up to them.”
French President Nicholas Sarkozy said, “Of course we must all respect differences, but we do not want… a society where communities coexist side by side. If you come to France, you accept to melt into a single community, which is the national community, and if you do not want to accept that, you cannot be welcome in France. The French national community cannot accept a change in its lifestyle, equality between men and women… freedom for little girls to go to school.”
Glenn’s response?
“Cameron launched a scathing attack earlier this month on 30 years of multiculturalism in Britain, warning that it is fostering extremism. His damning verdict came months after German chancellor Angela Merkel said that multiculturalism in Germany has failed. Now Sarkozy is joining the number, the growing number of European leaders who have adopted identical views. He told the French people, we have been too concerned about the identity of the person who is arriving and not enough about the identity of the country that was receiving him,” Glenn said.
“The answer is clear, but is anybody willing to say that here? Is anybody? The answer is clear. And what’s wrong with me? The answer, you want to be more like Europe? Then listen to Europe! Listen to what they’re saying. Socialism hasn’t worked. Multiculturalism doesn’t work! We’re still behind.”
I am listening to what they are saying, and, unlike you, I am hearing what they are saying.

Cameron: My war on multiculturalism
David Cameron launched a devastating attack today on 30 years of multiculturalism in Britain, warning it is fostering extremist ideology and directly contributing to home-grown Islamic terrorism.
Signalling a radical departure from the strategies of previous governments, Mr Cameron said that Britain must adopt a policy of "muscular liberalism" to enforce the values of equality, law and freedom of speech across all parts of society.
He warned Muslim groups that if they fail to endorse women's rights or promote integration, they will lose all government funding.All immigrants to Britain must speak English and schools will be expected to teach the country's common culture.
